Workshop with Eva Priečková. Part II

We invite you to take part in the second edition of the workshop: It’s all Fun and Games (until something happens), which aims to explore ways of coping with high alertness, exhaustion and relationship to work (ways of making a living) through fake therapy and other games, such as: empathy, care, listening, role play, trusting, props, giving, pretending… The second “office” edition of the workshop includes non-competitive, board games, contact sports and the use of props.
The workshop, which is partly based on practices of Fake Therapy and Political Therapy, initiated by Valentina Desideri, will be facilitated by performance artist and contemporary dancer Eva Priečková. The workshop is curated by Jelisaveta Rapaić in relation to the exhibition SOMETHING IS BURNING, curated by Julius Pristauz.

The potential of play and belief. Can a silly act heal? If it’s not real but it works, does it become real then?  Choose your fighter: institutionalized or intuitional aid?

Your alarm has just gone off, it has been snoozing on a loop. You find yourself in a delirious limbo torn between resistance and compliance. It is a sweet cocoon you find yourself in, cherish these moments, you still don’t have to clock in for the day. Ride the wave of dozing until the pleasure is greater than the guilt.

We are told that work heals, work occupies the mind, work exhausts the body, work is good for taking your mind off things and making you tired enough in the evening that you hopefully pass out. In this hierarchy of non-communal semi-corporate practices of coping or rather avoiding – how comfortable are we with asking for or receiving some help? Today we can hope to have a community and an unofficial care system to fall back on because we cannot rely on the system. It is up to us, our exhausted bodies and dilapidated minds, to create and maintain an unofficial care system.
