As Kunsthalle Bratislava is officially being closed down and merged with the Slovak National Gallery and our team is officially parting as of April first 2024, we invite you to take part in our final obligation of before we leave the space.

This event is an opportunity for us to inform and remind the public of the extensive programme we have undertaken during 2023 in collaboration with renowned national and international artists and curators. At the same time, we want to present the efficiency of Kunsthalle Bratislava and its financial management, we stand behind.

We also note that this marks the end of Kunsthalle Bratislava’s existence as an independent organisation and, from our point of view, there is no continuiation of Kunsthalle Bratislava under the leadership of the SNG. The Ministry of Culture has not approved the programme of Kunsthalle Bratislava prepared for 2024, the SNG has not taken over its staff and it is uncertain what will happen to its premises. The announced “merger” with the SNG is thus purely declarative and not based on real facts.

The public presentation of activities will take place on Wednesday 27th of March 2024 at 3 pm in the exhibition space A Window on the ground floor, in Kunsthalle Bratislava. After which we invite you to stick around for a short artistic intervention by the members of the Slovak art community.

The Academy of Fine Arts and Design Bratislava @vsvu_afad joins in initiating a collective mourning over the loss of Kunsthalle Bratislava.Let’s meet for the occasion all dressed up in black with wreaths, flowers and our opinions, reasons, memories of the Kunsthalle, and by pasting messages on the glass of the space a Window, we will materialize the importance of the Kunsthalle Bratislava for Slovak society.

The presentation will be held in Slovak language.
