When the initial laughter stops, reality steps in

“Contemporary art is nothing but a business, but we take it as a joke.” These are the words of Nika Oblak & Primož Novak, an artist duo exhibiting in Slovakia for the very first time. Kunsthalle LAB will host the opening of their show And Now For Something Completely Different 5 curated by Petja Grafenauer on Thursday, 5 November 2015, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The exhibition will last until 6 December 2015.

Fresh, unexpected and poetic ways of reading Bratislava

Kunsthalle LAB launches the busy upcoming autumn season with an international project of curator Belinda Grace Gardner entitled Psychogeographic Junction. The exhibition presents four contemporary German artists who interact in a dialogue with Bratislava and its citizens. The opening of the exhibition will be held on Thursday, 17 September 2015 from 6 pm to 8 pm. The exhibition will run until 25 October 2015.

Openly on feminism!

The “window gallery” Kunsthalle LAB of the Dom umenia/Kunsthalle Bratislava is to host a new exhibition on feminism – an issue that still remains current and rather sensitive within contemporary art. The opening of the exhibition organized as part of the zero year of the festival FestFem will be held on Thursday, July 16th 2015, from 6 to 8pm. The exhibition will run until September 6th 2015.

Kunsthalle LAB Keeps Visitors and Passers-By under Surveillance

On 6th November, Kunsthalle LAB will host an exhibition of a Polish-Hungarian visual artist duo known as Elektro Moon Vision. The interactive multimedia projects of Elwira Wojtunik and Popesz Csaba Láng represent the more progressive part of contemporary Central European visual art. The exhibition project entitled Random Eye Check (REC) was selected based on an international open call. The selected installation virtually draws visitors and passers-by into a sphere of constant surveillance. For the purpose of the exhibition, the Bratislava Kunsthalle adjusted the LAB’s opening hours. The gallery will be open from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and until 9 p.m. on Fridays, but the installation can also be viewed outside the opening hours until midnight. It is hoped the evening setting will deepen the experience of this remarkable exhibition.
